If I showed you what the world would look like without your prayers, you would be appalled…

Wisdom 18:22 He conquered the wrath not by strength of body, not by force of arms, but by his word he subdued the avenger, appealing to the oaths and covenants given to our ancestors.

“My beloved children, do not make the grave error of discounting the effect of your prayers, your humble prayers, on the divine wrath. Already my much-wounded heart has been appeased through your little offerings. How can I encourage you in this? How can I convince you that your efforts are having their effect? If I showed you what the world would look like without your prayers, you would be appalled. So, if your prayers seem to go unanswered, do not give up. It is only that I have applied your prayers to a higher purpose. Then offer me your disappointment, wrapped in the words: ‘Jesus I trust in you. Save souls!’ I tell you, even in your disappointment you will be filled with joy!”

O my Lord, Blessed Trinity of Love, how can we begin to comprehend your love and mercy? That even your ‘no’ is a ‘yes’—yes to a much greater good. In the Divine Will, help me to always respond as I do now—Jesus I trust in you. Save souls! Amen.

Those who have spurned and rejected me have need of many prayers and offerings…

Luke 14:22-23 And the slave said, “Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.” Then the master said to the slave, “Go out into the roads and lanes, and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled.”

Beloved, so many who were called by my name have spurned me. So many who I called by name have rejected me. Never have prayer and sacrifice, oblation and reparation been more needed. Those who have spurned and rejected me have need of many prayers and offerings, more so than those who have yet to hear the Good News. Do you wonder why you suffer? Do you not know? You are participating in the labour of the Cross. Pray for strength, and above all remain hopeful. Your suffering is not fruitless, but in the Divine Will, it shall bear abundant fruit, and your consolation will be beyond imagining. Shalom, dear children.”

Eternal Father, in the Divine Will grant us every grace we need to bear these sufferings with hope and joy. We are Simon of Cyrene yoked with you to the glorious Cross. In your abundant mercy, save souls! Amen.

St. Faustina’s Prayer for Priests…

I found this today and thought it tied in well with the previous message as well as the coming celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy. God’s timing is glorious!

Prayer for Priests
(St. Faustina’s Diary, 1052)

O my Jesus, I beg You on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit, and give power to the words of priests so hardened hearts may be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord. Lord, give us holy priests; you yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Your mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil’s traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things.

Dream…

Dream: Last night I had a dream about a young woman who was walking at the top of a big hydro dam and somehow slipped and was falling down the wet concrete to the thundering waters below. A young strong man also fell but manage to save himself. After a second, he made the decision to plunge down after her in order to try to save her. Miraculously he reached her and they both ended up being caught on a branch or ledge. The strong young man pulled the young woman up behind him struggling to get them both to safety. Instead of being helpful and grateful, the young woman was berating him the whole time saying things like, “I would have been fine. I didn’t need you to rescue me. Why didn’t you mind your own business?” Once the young man saw that they had made it to a place of relative safety, and seeing that his presence was a thorn in her side, he parted ways with her, making sure she was in a place where she could make it the rest of the way on her own. He placed her in a little stream that was emptying into the dam and told her to go upstream with her mother who was there and make her own way to safety. Then he left. Even though the stream was not deep or fast, they had trouble going upstream. They came to a bend in the stream and another young man appeared. It was the young woman’s “new boyfriend”. Even though she not in serious jeopardy, he was not able to help her out of the stream and offered to go for help. The young woman screamed, “NO! Stay! You can never leave me!” She reached for his hand. He was very happy to be so needed. Neither one seemed aware that this situation was not getting them anywhere. Neither one really even acknowledged the mother who was there the whole time.

I have been pondering this dream today. I feel the young woman represents so many people who place their souls in grave danger and when Our Lord offers his miraculous help through the sacraments, the church, the singular graces of the age such as Divine Mercy, Divine Will, and Flame of Love, they are roundly rejected. “I don’t need your help! I can save myself!” It is the height of pride and ingratitude. So, the good and gentle God who has risked all to save the poor soul, leaves sadly, out of respect for that one’s free will, appointing his Mother to be her faithful companion. No matter how much the soul struggles, however, she will not go to her Mother for help. Ah, but this “new boyfriend”, this shiny idol in her life, this new age religion, these occult practices, these thoughts, ideas, and notions, these she clings to with all her might, even though these idols have no power to save.

The ingratitude of the young woman was very stark in the dream. As divine providence would have it, Anthony Mullen’s blog post on March 26 was on the topic of gratitude, and its necessity in the devout life. Anthony’s blog is called The Divine Antidote, https://divineantidote.wordpress.com and I would encourage you to subscribe to if you haven’t already. I have found his messages to be a tremendous aid in the spiritual life. I asked Anthony if I could re-post that message here and he has given permission.

May God grant us all the grace of a grateful, humble heart, open to his loving care and his saving help. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, we love you. Save souls!

Praise and Thanksgiving Increase the Gifts and Discernment of Inspirations of the Holy Spirit

Posted on March 26, 2017      by Anthony Mullen

(I felt a strong inspiration to remind us as we hit the halfway point of Lent that what follows below is the main reason why we don’t make the spiritual progress we so desire. Take note especially of what St. Therese has to say on thanksgiving).

We know from our Faith that God will grant us the Grace to respond to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit for our sanctification, but only if we truly love God and correspond with the effort of our free will to His Grace. St. Frances de Sales, Doctor of the Church, states: “…if we do not resist God’s Grace, He gives each of us the inspirations we need in order to live, act and maintain ourselves in the spiritual life.” It is the Gifts of the Holy Spirit placed in our soul at Baptism and strengthened at our Confirmation and further strengthened with each worthy Holy Communion, which allow us to hear and respond consistently to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.  St. Thomas Aquinas, the great Doctor of the Church, states that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit “prepare the soul to follow promptly the impulse of Divine inspiration.”  So, since the Gifts and Virtues of the Holy Spirit are essential to our growth in holiness, it is a matter of the greatest importance that we learn and practice all we can about the Gifts and how they open our faculties to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. But how do we activate and grow the Gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Our guide in this matter, Fr. Jacques Philippe, from “In the School of the Holy Spirit”, explains that the main reason that we do not receive the necessary Grace is: WE FAIL TO THANK GOD FOR THE GRACES HE HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO US (emphasis added). He quotes St. Therese of Lisieux, another Doctor of the Church: “What most draws down graces from our dear Lord is gratitude, for if we thank Him for a gift, He hastens to give us ten more, and if we thank Him again with the same sincerity, what an incalculable multiplication of graces!  I have experienced this; try it and see.”

Fr. Jacques asks us to see and understand that our subtle ingratitude, our failure to recognize our nothingness and that everything…every single thing we have is Grace…pure Gift…is indeed what stifles Grace, especially since we do not consistently thank God for all the blessings and benefits of each moment of each day and simply take them for granted (our Faith, Hope, Love, talents, skills, parents, country, occupation, house, food). Why is it that we are one of every three people in the world who believes in Christ?  Why are we not in the two of every three people who do not know or believe in Christ?  Why is it that we are a Catholic and not a Protestant?  How is it that we know and believe in the Most Blessed Sacrament? How is it that we are in the 1% of all people who actually can and do take advantage of this Gift of all Gifts on a daily basis?  How is it that we were chosen to know and receive the Extraordinary Flame of Love Grace?  All is Pure Gift of an All-Loving, Infinite God!  All we have is a gratuitous Gift!  Yet, we take these incredible Gifts of God for granted…or certainly we do not thank God often and profusely for these incredible Gifts of His Love.

So, what must we do? We must change by begging for more Grace to be truly thankful each day and seek to practice praise and thanksgiving each day throughout the day, especially with formal prayers of praise and thanksgiving added to our daily prayer time; and with short bursts of praise and thanksgiving throughout the day….”Lord, I praise and thank you for everything You have given me!”  Next, we must give more time and effort devoted to praising and thanking God from our free time.  Worthily attending daily Mass with Holy Communion is the greatest way to thank and praise God!  If we are already doing that…then making a Holy Hour each week would be the next gift of praise and thanksgiving!  We must continue to give God more of our free time, which is now wasted on foolish things like TV, Internet and too much talking and entertainment.  Instead, we must use this wasted time to especially praise Him and thank Him for the Graces we have received.

Once we become consistent at this praise and thanksgiving, we will begin to see and feel new Graces bestowed and we will begin to be more patient and docile in listening for the inspirations of the Holy Spirit at each moment of the day. We will then find we are growing closer to God and beginning to act more like His Mother and He would act in each situation of the day.  We will see our bad habits and laziness begin to change!  Come Holy Spirit, come into my daily life in a new and more powerful way with Your Gifts, and let me hear and act on all Your inspirations, so I may be Holy as You are Holy for Your Glory and the salvation of souls!  I praise and thank You for all the Graces I have ever received and will ever receive! Please, I beg You to do this through the power of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!  By trusting in our Mother and taking and living the Flame of Love Grace, this process of gratitude for Grace is accelerated and made much more secure!  She is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Mediatrix of all Grace and Mother of perfect thanksgiving!  Fiat!

Those who at least try to please me, no matter how paltry the effort, are a balm to my much-wounded heart…

Psalm 12:1-2 Help, O Lord, for there is no longer anyone who is godly; the faithful have disappeared from humankind. They utter lies to each other; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

“Beloved, does not the God who sees into the secret recesses of the human heart know this? How I long to look with joy at my children, but instead what I see disgusts me. Yet those who at least try to please me, no matter how paltry the effort, are a balm to my much-wounded heart. Try always to please me, my children. Try always to give me the comfort of your small efforts and your desire to please me. If you do this, you will invoke my mercy over the whole world. Do so in the Divine Will and you will see miracles of grace and conversion. Give me everything! Give me your heart! There I will take my rest.”

O my beloved Father, in the Divine Will, I give you my heart, wrapped in the swaddling bands of Jesus and smelling of the sweet perfume of the perfect love of Mary and Joseph for Jesus.

“Child, this is a gift most pleasing to me!”

Then, Father, I offer it in the Divine Will in the name of everyone from Adam to the last man, in reparation to your much-wounded heart. Abba, Father, I love you! Amen.

The battle for souls…

Happy feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, dear friends!

I have two dreams to relate to you. One I posted in April, 2007. The other is a dream I had in the week before Christmas this year. I feel that both are calls to pray for those who may die suddenly and unprepared. This seems a dire message given that we are celebrating a New Year. But please remember that God would not send me these dreams and this message if there was no hope attached. Do not let this message fill you with dread, but with the firm belief that God will hear your prayers for souls and use your sacrifices to save many who may be lost without them. Death is hard for those left behind, but the real tragedy occurs when souls are lost. Offering prayers for souls is one way that we can be a sure sign of hope for others.

First Dream – April 2007

I was in a car by the seashore. Suddenly the sea started to rise very quickly. Many people were unprepared. I saw that many of the unprepared were famous people. They were trapped by the rising water and drowned. Then a great tsunami rose and rushed towards us. We could not escape it but I felt that we had a better chance of surviving if we stayed in our car, thinking that the car could take the pounding better than we could and we might escape with our lives.

I felt afterwards that this dream was a call to pray for those whose hearts are spiritually unprepared and who are in grave spiritual danger. Our “vehicle of safety” is the Church. It will be battered by upcoming events, but we are far safer within it than we would be outside of it.

Second Dream – December 2016

I was looking out over the harbor and saw a large cruise ship being towed into port by a tug. I thought, “That’s unusual. We don’t usually get cruise ships here.” After it docked I went to see it. There was absolutely no sign of life on it or around it. After waking I felt the ship represented death.

I believe these dreams may be related and that the events of the first (the death of many famous people) may be a sign for the timing of the second. We have just come off a year where an unprecedented number of famous people have died, probably many of them unprepared. In Canada we are also in mourning for all those who have taken their own lives through physician-assisted suicide. Ever since I had the first dream, I have been praying for those who will die unprepared. I believe the second dream is in turn an encouragement to pray even harder for those poor souls. I encourage all of us to do so. Here is the prayer I pray daily at the end of my Divine Mercy chaplet:

“Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, we beseech you by the agony of your most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of your Immaculate Mother, to wash clean in your blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony, but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day. Heart of Jesus, who suffered death’s agony, have mercy on these poor souls. Amen.”

We are a people of hope and our God of hope has given us powerful weapons against the culture of death, one of the greatest of which is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We know we can trust Jesus and believe in the promise he made to St. Faustina:

“At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same.” (Diary, 811)

“My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. … Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior.” (Diary, 1541).

God’s mercy is unimaginable! Even more so in that he uses weak sinners as his instruments of mercy on earth. Just as St. Faustina was often taken in spirit to the side of dying souls so she could pray the chaplet in their presence, in the Divine Will we can ask for the same grace, for nothing is impossible for God. “Jesus, in the Divine Will, take me into the presence of those in most dire need of your mercy as I pray this chaplet…”

God is calling us to participate in his ministry of salvation. May our Blessed Mother guide us and help us in the battle for the souls of her beloved children.

O my Jesus, I love you, I trust you, I surrender myself to you. Please take care of everything and everyone in my spiritual territory. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you. Save souls!

(See also this dream from 2010)

You will see even greater things than these when I come to reign in the hearts of men…

Acts 11:17 If then God gave [those Gentiles] same gift [the Holy Spirit] that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?’

“Beloved, you will see even greater things than these when I come to reign in the hearts of men. In all those whose hearts are open, I will establish my kingdom, a kingdom of love, fraternity, and peace. All will know me, and those whose hearts are now far from me will be given a great grace, an opportunity to return to my embrace. All this I tell you so that you will not despair of those you are praying for. Place each one in the Flame of Love and let our Mother see to their every need. Entrust your cares to her, for I can refuse her nothing. Draw near, my children. My heart is ready for you. Do not make me wait. I thirst.”

My beloved, your love and mercy are unfathomable. In the Divine Will I entrust all those in my spiritual territory, especially those closest to me, to the Flame of Love of our Blessed Mother. I beseech you, O Lord, to hear her supplications on our behalf and I thank you for the tenderness with which you thirst for souls. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you! Save souls! Amen.

I issue a decree: The temple of the human heart shall be rebuilt…

Ezra 6:3 King Cyrus issued a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be rebuilt.”

“My beloved, can there be any doubt that my house must be rebuilt? Yet, I do not speak of a temple made of stones, but the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is the human heart. Humanity has pulverized the temple within their own breasts. Now the exile begins, when each one feels the absence of God. Woe to you! There is much to suffer. Yet, I issue a decree: The temple of the human heart shall be rebuilt. What you labour for will come to birth, not stillborn, but robust, healthy, and strong. You will rejoice at the new life of the temple and will think on the sufferings no more. Once the temple of the human heart has been put in right order, all else will naturally follow. Then do not fear the sufferings of the present moment, but let your panting and pushing usher in a new era of peace and abundant joy.”

O Father, thank you! Give us strength in the Divine Will to bring to birth the Era of Peace. Take all our panting and pushing and use it all for your glorious purposes. Help us to remain faithful, even in time of dire darkness and abandonment. Let our wills be one with yours so that in every moment we may say with Jesus and Mary, “Fiat! Here I am Lord, I come to live in you holy and adorable Will.” Amen.

Be tireless workers in the sweet harvest of souls….

Psalm 9:15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.

“Beloved, there is indeed much more to come. For those people and nations that do not repent of their evil ways, sorrow and woe will fall upon them. They will reap a bitter harvest, exactly what they have sown. But do not despair, my little ones, for unless the sinner feels the pain of his own sin, his chance for repentance lessens. A good parent does not shield his child from consequences, but certainly his vigilance and care for that child increases. When the child returns contrite in spirit, the parent is waiting with arms outstretched. So it is with the great and many sinners of this age. Their bitter harvest will sour their own stomachs. But when they return to me contrite in spirit, I will be waiting with outstretched arms. Pray for their conversion, dear children. Be tireless workers in the sweet harvest of souls.”

Merciful Father, in the Divine Will I offer you all the sufferings of all the saints throughout history, linked to the pure suffering of the Cross, for the conversion of all sinners—individuals and nations. In the Divine Will use all these sufferings, as well as my poor offerings, to fill your crown with the jewels of converted sinners. May our Mother intercede on our behalf. Amen

I am coming to restore the earth, but first, what is corrupted must be destroyed…

Zephaniah 1:17 I will bring such distress upon people that they shall walk like the blind, because they have sinned against the Lord.

“Oh my child, how I long to take all my dear children to my breast to comfort, heal, and restore them. But they turn away from my love, from my merciful heart. They run headlong into their own grief and destruction. In their sinful folly, they bring distress on their own heads. Woe to all the inhabitants of the earth! Sorrow and woe! Little remnant, do all you can in prayer and sacrifice to offer reparation to my much-wounded heart. Do you think I take delight in the death of the sinner? On the contrary—I long for him to turn back to me and live. Pray constantly, dear children. I am coming to restore the earth, but first, what is corrupted must be destroyed. Lean close, my children. I am with you through it all.”

O my Jesus, draw me closer to your merciful heart than I could ever manage on my own power. Take all that I have to give, my joys and sorrows, my weakness, my love. Take my every thought, word, deed, heartbeat and breath, purified in the Flame of Love, and in the Divine Will apply it where it would do the most good. Jesus, I love you, I trust you, I surrender myself joyfully to your loving, perfect plan for all humanity. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus! Renew the face of the earth!
