Imitate the first disciples and pray for boldness…

Acts 4:29-31 And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.’ When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

“My children, imitate the first disciples and pray for boldness. Pray also for courage and fortitude. The Holy Spirit waits to be asked for a new infilling of these gifts, which you received in a measure at your Confirmation. Do not be afraid. I mean to work new wonders in this age, that all may believe. Yet happy are you who have not seen, and yet believe. Your faithfulness will be counted in your favor. Children, in your boldness do not forget kindness and humility. Imitate our Mother who always spoke the truth with kindness, gentleness, and abject humility, pointing always toward God and never to herself. That is why there is so little about her in Scripture. Yet I am making her more well-known to this generation because her merits, virtues, and perfections deserve to be emulated. Be bold like your Mother, who did not let fear keep her from the foot of the cross.”

My beloved Jesus, I praise you for the glorious gift and example our Mother is to us. May her prayers on our behalf win for us new boldness, humility, fortitude, courage, kindness, gentleness, and a new infilling of all the gifts of the Holy Spirit, her glorious and most generous Spouse. We ask all these prayers in the Divine Will. Amen.

Often it is drudgery that wins great graces for the world…

Hebrews 11:39-40 Yet all these (holy men and women of faith), though they were commended for their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better so that they would not, without us, be made perfect.

“My beloved, all people of faith have a role to play in salvation history and all who are faithful to their role will be sharers in the collective glory when Christ’s glory is revealed. Be not afraid of what is asked of you and do not fear the terrors that surround you. Know and believe that you were made for these times, and that all I ask of you is to fulfill your daily duty. Some are asked to suffer more than others, but those blessed souls are showered with the graces needed, if they will only receive them.* The more souls co-operate with grace, the nearer draws the kingdom. Discern your role and do not discount the lowly, mundane, or humble role. Often it is drudgery that wins great graces for the world. Only take care to offer everything to me, in the Divine Will through the Flame of Love, and more will be accomplished than you can imagine. Children, be not afraid, but give me all. I am near and I love you.”

(*I had an image of turning my umbrella upside down to catch the graces!)

O merciful Father, beloved of my heart, in the Divine Will, through the Flame of Love, I offer you my every moment, waking or sleeping, in recreation or drudgery, comfort or suffering, joy or sorrow, for the conversion of souls and for your kingdom to come. I accept every gift and grace it pleases you to give me, most especially the gift of living in the Divine Will. May your glory be known and may your love be praised and glorified by all your children. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you for your fiats of creation, redemption and sanctification. May your kingdom come and come quickly. Amen.

You will see even greater things than these when I come to reign in the hearts of men…

Acts 11:17 If then God gave [those Gentiles] same gift [the Holy Spirit] that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?’

“Beloved, you will see even greater things than these when I come to reign in the hearts of men. In all those whose hearts are open, I will establish my kingdom, a kingdom of love, fraternity, and peace. All will know me, and those whose hearts are now far from me will be given a great grace, an opportunity to return to my embrace. All this I tell you so that you will not despair of those you are praying for. Place each one in the Flame of Love and let our Mother see to their every need. Entrust your cares to her, for I can refuse her nothing. Draw near, my children. My heart is ready for you. Do not make me wait. I thirst.”

My beloved, your love and mercy are unfathomable. In the Divine Will I entrust all those in my spiritual territory, especially those closest to me, to the Flame of Love of our Blessed Mother. I beseech you, O Lord, to hear her supplications on our behalf and I thank you for the tenderness with which you thirst for souls. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you! Save souls! Amen.

The hour of mercy is slipping away while you daydream and slumber…

Hosea 11:2-3 The more I called them, the more they went from me; they kept sacrificing to the Baals, and offering incense to idols. Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them.

“My children! Why have you abandoned me? Why have you gone chasing after idols? Why have you rejected me? Do you not know that I formed you in your mother’s womb with the tenderest care? That I placed within you the seed of eternal life, your immortal soul? Return to me. The hour of mercy is slipping away while you daydream and slumber. Awake! Return to me and I will heal your wounds. I will bandage you and tend to your needs. My children, come to me. My mercy waits for you, longs for each of you as an only child. Come…”

O beloved Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, blessed Trinity of Love, how fickle and frail we are! Draw us near. In the Divine Will, do for us what we are too weak to do for ourselves. Implant in us a desire to know, love, and serve you. Grant us greater faith, hope, and love. May your merciful heart enfold us, O Lord, especially those most in need of your mercy. May the Flame of Love cover us and all those you have given us to pray for. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you! Save souls! Amen.

The pure heart is an unwavering beacon where the Blessed Trinity longs to dwell and find rest…

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

“My beloved, it is true that the pure in heart will see God, will behold the beatific vision when they have been purified in preparation for eternity. But there is another meaning here. For those who are pure in heart while on earth will also see God. To those who purify themselves through frequent confession, penance, prayer, and reception of the Eucharist, to these devout souls I will reveal myself in some way. I will give light to their hearts and help speed them on the path to purity. There is nothing I will not do for a soul that strives after purity. Indeed, I search the earth for such souls, like Noah’s dove searching for a place to land. The pure heart is an unwavering beacon where the Blessed Trinity longs to dwell and find rest. Seek after purity, my little ones. What you gain on this earth will speed your entry into eternity.”

Blessed Trinity of Love, I place my I love you and I thank you in this longing you have for little souls striving for purity of heart. Help us in our weak efforts so that all we accomplish of purity will have its origin in you. Father, Son, Holy Spirit, make your home in me. I love you! Take your rest here. Amen.

They have rejected the God who IS, and deified their own specious pronouncements…

Mark 7:8 (Jesus said to the Pharisees and scribes) “You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition.”

“My child, much reparation is owed me for the great and many sins of the age. For they have rejected the God who IS, and deified their own specious* pronouncements! How much longer must I put up with this generation? The foul stench emanating from them threatens to obliterate the glorious incense of the prayers of my faithful little ones. But do not be alarmed at this, for in the Divine Will, even one little soul at prayer is enough to drown the stench completely. Is this amazing to you? It is not amazing to me! For in my Divine Will all things become possible. Do you believe this?”

Yes Lord! I believe!

“Then become the humblest instrument of my will that you can be. You must decrease so that I may increase in you. Become completely docile to the Divine Will until you, like Luisa—beloved Little Daughter of the Divine Will—become completely fused in It. In this way, one little soul becomes an invincible army! Do not delay your journey into the Divine Will. Long for it with prayers, sighs, and supplications. Learn it, teach it, light the Divine Fire that burns you up like incense. My children this grace is for you, for everyone. Long for it!”

O my beloved Trinity, my merciful Father, Son, and Spirit, I beg for this grace, the grace of union with the Divine Will. Melt me, mold me, annihilate me so that only you exist in me. Burn away in me all resistance. You do it Lord, for I am too weak. Fuse me into your will. Blessed Mother and Luisa, obtain for me this grace by your merits and through your continuous and everlasting Fiat! Amen.

(*I love this word, specious. It means “superficially plausible, but actually wrong.” I had to look it up, and was delighted to find how perfect it was in this application.)

Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day Nine

Galatians 5:22-23 The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Thou, on those who evermore Thee confess and Thee Adore, in Thy sevenfold gift, Descend; Give Them Comfort when they die; Give them Life with Thee on high; Give them joys which never end. Amen

The Fruits of the Holy Spirit

The gifts of the Holy Spirit perfect the supernatural virtues by enabling us to practice them with greater docility to divine inspiration. As we grow in the knowledge and love of God under the direction of the Holy Spirit, our service becomes more sincere and generous, the practice of virtue more perfect. Such acts of virtue leave the heart filled with joy and consolation and are known as Fruits of the Holy Spirit. These Fruits in turn render the practice of virtue more attractive and become a powerful incentive for still greater efforts in the service of God, to serve Whom is to reign.

Prayer

Come, O Divine Spirit, fill my heart with Thy heavenly fruits, Thy charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, faith, mildness, and temperance, that I may never weary in the service of God, but by continued faithful submission to Thy inspiration may merit to be united eternally with Thee in the love of the Father and the Son. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE. Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit

On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You. Give me grace O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, “Speak Lord for Your servant heareth.” Amen.

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You  and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord with the sign of Your true disciples, and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen.

We offer these prayers with Jesus in the Divine Will, in the name of everyone–from Adam to the last one yet to be born–for the sanctification of the whole world.

Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day Eight

Wisdom 6: 12 Resplendent and unfading is Wisdom, and she is readily perceived by those who love her, and found by those who seek her.

Bend the stubborn heart and will, melt the frozen warm the chill. Guide the steps that go astray!

The Gift of Wisdom

Embodying all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues, Wisdom is the most perfect of the gifts. Of wisdom it is written “all good things came to me with her, and innumerable riches through her hands.” It is the gift of Wisdom that strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, and promotes the practice of virtue in the highest degree. Wisdom enlightens the mind to discern and relish things divine, in the appreciation of which earthly joys lose their savor, whilst the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness according to the words of the Saviour: “Take up thy cross and follow me, for my yoke is sweet and my burden light.

Prayer

Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their exceeding greatness, power and beauty. Teach me to love them above and beyond all the passing joys and satisfactions of earth. Help me to attain them and possess them for ever. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE. Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES.

Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day Seven

1 Thess 5:19-21 Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances. Test everything; retain what is good.

Heal our wounds–our strength renews; On our dryness pour Thy dew, Wash the stains of guilt away.

The Gift of Counsel

The gift of Counsel endows the soul with supernatural prudence, enabling it to judge promptly and rightly what must done, especially in difficult circumstances. Counsel applies the principles furnished by Knowledge and Understanding to the innumerable concrete cases that confront us in the course of our daily duty as parents, teachers, public servants, and Christian citizens. Counsel is supernatural common sense, a priceless treasure in the quest of salvation. “Above all these things, pray to the Most High, that He may direct thy way in truth.”

Prayer

Come, O Spirit of Counsel, help and guide me in all my ways, that I may always do Thy holy will. Incline my heart to that which is good; turn it away from all that is evil, and direct me by the straight path of Thy commandments to that goal of eternal life for which I long.

Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE. Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES.

Novena to the Holy Spirit – Day Six

Romans 8: 5-6 For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.

If Thou take Thy grace away, nothing pure in man will stay, All his good is turn’d to ill.

The Gift of Understanding

Understanding, as a gift of the Holy Spirit, helps us to grasp the meaning of the truths of our holy religion. By faith we know them, but by Understanding we learn to appreciate and relish them. It enables us to penetrate the inner meaning of revealed truths and through them to be quickened to newness of life. Our faith ceases to be sterile and inactive, but inspires a mode of life that bears eloquent testimony to the faith that is in us; we begin to “walk worthy of God in all things pleasing, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Prayer

Come, O Spirit of Understanding, and enlighten our minds, that we may know and believe all the mysteries of salvation; and may merit at last to see the eternal light in Thy Light; and in the light of glory to have a clear vision of Thee and the Father and the Son. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary ONCE. Glory be to the Father SEVEN TIMES.
