Dream…

Dream: Last night I had a dream about a young woman who was walking at the top of a big hydro dam and somehow slipped and was falling down the wet concrete to the thundering waters below. A young strong man also fell but manage to save himself. After a second, he made the decision to plunge down after her in order to try to save her. Miraculously he reached her and they both ended up being caught on a branch or ledge. The strong young man pulled the young woman up behind him struggling to get them both to safety. Instead of being helpful and grateful, the young woman was berating him the whole time saying things like, “I would have been fine. I didn’t need you to rescue me. Why didn’t you mind your own business?” Once the young man saw that they had made it to a place of relative safety, and seeing that his presence was a thorn in her side, he parted ways with her, making sure she was in a place where she could make it the rest of the way on her own. He placed her in a little stream that was emptying into the dam and told her to go upstream with her mother who was there and make her own way to safety. Then he left. Even though the stream was not deep or fast, they had trouble going upstream. They came to a bend in the stream and another young man appeared. It was the young woman’s “new boyfriend”. Even though she not in serious jeopardy, he was not able to help her out of the stream and offered to go for help. The young woman screamed, “NO! Stay! You can never leave me!” She reached for his hand. He was very happy to be so needed. Neither one seemed aware that this situation was not getting them anywhere. Neither one really even acknowledged the mother who was there the whole time.

I have been pondering this dream today. I feel the young woman represents so many people who place their souls in grave danger and when Our Lord offers his miraculous help through the sacraments, the church, the singular graces of the age such as Divine Mercy, Divine Will, and Flame of Love, they are roundly rejected. “I don’t need your help! I can save myself!” It is the height of pride and ingratitude. So, the good and gentle God who has risked all to save the poor soul, leaves sadly, out of respect for that one’s free will, appointing his Mother to be her faithful companion. No matter how much the soul struggles, however, she will not go to her Mother for help. Ah, but this “new boyfriend”, this shiny idol in her life, this new age religion, these occult practices, these thoughts, ideas, and notions, these she clings to with all her might, even though these idols have no power to save.

The ingratitude of the young woman was very stark in the dream. As divine providence would have it, Anthony Mullen’s blog post on March 26 was on the topic of gratitude, and its necessity in the devout life. Anthony’s blog is called The Divine Antidote, https://divineantidote.wordpress.com and I would encourage you to subscribe to if you haven’t already. I have found his messages to be a tremendous aid in the spiritual life. I asked Anthony if I could re-post that message here and he has given permission.

May God grant us all the grace of a grateful, humble heart, open to his loving care and his saving help. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, we love you. Save souls!

Praise and Thanksgiving Increase the Gifts and Discernment of Inspirations of the Holy Spirit

Posted on March 26, 2017      by Anthony Mullen

(I felt a strong inspiration to remind us as we hit the halfway point of Lent that what follows below is the main reason why we don’t make the spiritual progress we so desire. Take note especially of what St. Therese has to say on thanksgiving).

We know from our Faith that God will grant us the Grace to respond to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit for our sanctification, but only if we truly love God and correspond with the effort of our free will to His Grace. St. Frances de Sales, Doctor of the Church, states: “…if we do not resist God’s Grace, He gives each of us the inspirations we need in order to live, act and maintain ourselves in the spiritual life.” It is the Gifts of the Holy Spirit placed in our soul at Baptism and strengthened at our Confirmation and further strengthened with each worthy Holy Communion, which allow us to hear and respond consistently to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.  St. Thomas Aquinas, the great Doctor of the Church, states that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit “prepare the soul to follow promptly the impulse of Divine inspiration.”  So, since the Gifts and Virtues of the Holy Spirit are essential to our growth in holiness, it is a matter of the greatest importance that we learn and practice all we can about the Gifts and how they open our faculties to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. But how do we activate and grow the Gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Our guide in this matter, Fr. Jacques Philippe, from “In the School of the Holy Spirit”, explains that the main reason that we do not receive the necessary Grace is: WE FAIL TO THANK GOD FOR THE GRACES HE HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO US (emphasis added). He quotes St. Therese of Lisieux, another Doctor of the Church: “What most draws down graces from our dear Lord is gratitude, for if we thank Him for a gift, He hastens to give us ten more, and if we thank Him again with the same sincerity, what an incalculable multiplication of graces!  I have experienced this; try it and see.”

Fr. Jacques asks us to see and understand that our subtle ingratitude, our failure to recognize our nothingness and that everything…every single thing we have is Grace…pure Gift…is indeed what stifles Grace, especially since we do not consistently thank God for all the blessings and benefits of each moment of each day and simply take them for granted (our Faith, Hope, Love, talents, skills, parents, country, occupation, house, food). Why is it that we are one of every three people in the world who believes in Christ?  Why are we not in the two of every three people who do not know or believe in Christ?  Why is it that we are a Catholic and not a Protestant?  How is it that we know and believe in the Most Blessed Sacrament? How is it that we are in the 1% of all people who actually can and do take advantage of this Gift of all Gifts on a daily basis?  How is it that we were chosen to know and receive the Extraordinary Flame of Love Grace?  All is Pure Gift of an All-Loving, Infinite God!  All we have is a gratuitous Gift!  Yet, we take these incredible Gifts of God for granted…or certainly we do not thank God often and profusely for these incredible Gifts of His Love.

So, what must we do? We must change by begging for more Grace to be truly thankful each day and seek to practice praise and thanksgiving each day throughout the day, especially with formal prayers of praise and thanksgiving added to our daily prayer time; and with short bursts of praise and thanksgiving throughout the day….”Lord, I praise and thank you for everything You have given me!”  Next, we must give more time and effort devoted to praising and thanking God from our free time.  Worthily attending daily Mass with Holy Communion is the greatest way to thank and praise God!  If we are already doing that…then making a Holy Hour each week would be the next gift of praise and thanksgiving!  We must continue to give God more of our free time, which is now wasted on foolish things like TV, Internet and too much talking and entertainment.  Instead, we must use this wasted time to especially praise Him and thank Him for the Graces we have received.

Once we become consistent at this praise and thanksgiving, we will begin to see and feel new Graces bestowed and we will begin to be more patient and docile in listening for the inspirations of the Holy Spirit at each moment of the day. We will then find we are growing closer to God and beginning to act more like His Mother and He would act in each situation of the day.  We will see our bad habits and laziness begin to change!  Come Holy Spirit, come into my daily life in a new and more powerful way with Your Gifts, and let me hear and act on all Your inspirations, so I may be Holy as You are Holy for Your Glory and the salvation of souls!  I praise and thank You for all the Graces I have ever received and will ever receive! Please, I beg You to do this through the power of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!  By trusting in our Mother and taking and living the Flame of Love Grace, this process of gratitude for Grace is accelerated and made much more secure!  She is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Mediatrix of all Grace and Mother of perfect thanksgiving!  Fiat!

Much reparation needs to be made for the pride and ingratitude of creatures…

Psalm 148:11-13 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and women alike, old and young together! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven.

“Beloved, do not underestimate the power of the praise of God. There is rightness and righteousness in it. What do creatures have that does not come from me? Yet, not only do they fail to praise and thank me, but they fail to acknowledge me at all, thinking that all the goods they enjoy have come about through their own efforts and ingenuity. They do not even acknowledge that their ingenuity comes from me! What folly! Children, much reparation needs to be made for the pride and ingratitude of creatures. Offer me, in the Divine Will, all that creatures owe me and you will not only be offering reparation, but you will be assisting in their redemption, and not least, you will be hastening the coming of the kingdom. Children, look around and see how few even acknowledge my existence. The evil one thinks he is winning a great victory. Pray as I have said and you will steal his victory from him.”

O my dear Father, Creator of all that is, munificent Benefactor, glorious, generous, bountiful God, in the Divine Will may your name be praised in all creation! In the Divine Will, I offer you, on behalf of every man, woman, and child, of every king, queen, prince, princess and ruler, from Adam to the last man, all the praise and gratitude that all creatures owe you, for your abundant gifts and heavenly graces, for the fiats of creation, redemption, and sanctification, and for all reverberations of those fiats through all time. Lord, your name alone is exalted; your glory is above earth and heaven. All glory and praise to you! Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

When I say that your reward will be great in heaven, do not imagine that I am being trite…

Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

“My beloved, do not imagine that the journey of my faithful ones is so different from the journey of their Lord. On the contrary, I AM the way and all paths lead through the cross. Remember, my children, that each cross is tailored to the soul. Each is unique, as unique as the soul that bears it. The only similarity in all crosses is that I am with you all in your passion. You need only turn to me and all the strength I had in my passion will be made available to you. This is especially true when one is being persecuted for my sake. Would I abandon that poor soul? Would not the Father see me when he looks at him? When I say that your reward will be great in heaven, do not imagine that I am being trite. Those who suffer on my behalf will be eternally grateful for what that suffering has purchased for them. Indeed, it will seem a far greater reward than the soul feels he deserved for it. In comparison, the trial will seem a small thing—even a large trial. My children, you cannot possibly imagine with what magnanimity your infinitely generous God can act. Be therefore consoled. All that happens in this life is as a passing shadow, over in the blink of an eye. Endure all with faith, fortitude, and great trust. I am with you through it all. Shalom.”

O my Jesus, help me not to get caught up in my daily trials, big or small, but help me to link all trials to the cross so that I may in some way participate in your redemptive act. O Jesus, in your mercy, give me grace, faith, fortitude and ever-greater trust, that I might endure all trials with great love for your glory. I love you Jesus! Amen.

Celebrate that you are a miserable beggar before your gracious Lord…

Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

“Beloved child, be always littler. Recognize your abject lack, your total need. Not only are your pockets empty but you come into the world without pockets and you leave the same way. All is gift. All. You have no virtue, nothing to sustain you in any way outside of grace. Recognize your utter dependence on Providence. But go beyond this recognition and celebrate that you are a miserable beggar before your gracious Lord. My child, the beggars are the ones who receive the most because of their utter reliance on their beloved Lord. They never stop looking at him with a gaze of love and gratitude, for they cannot believe their good fortune in serving such a generous, kind Lord. Children, my heart cannot resist a beggar with love and gratitude in their eyes. The heavenly treasure is theirs!”

O sweet Jesus, what miserable beggars we are! Help us to always remember that and to gaze on you with love and gratitude and the sure hope that you will see to our every need. This is a great reason for celebration! Keep us little. Jesus we trust in you! Amen.

Those who are wise do not dismiss all dreams, but search the meaning of those that appear to be significant…

Matthew 2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, (the wise men) left for their own country by another road.

“My children, is it so hard to believe that I would speak to my servants through dreams? It was not hard for the wise men to believe, nor St. Joseph. At certain times, I choose to speak to souls through dreams. Not every dream contains a message, but those that do require discernment. Those who are wise do not dismiss all dreams, but search the meaning of those that appear to be significant. I never send a dream-message without a reason, so it behooves the dreamer to pray and ponder. If you cannot decipher its meaning offer me this prayer, “Lord if this dream is from you, then please clarify its meaning; if not, please let it fade from my memory.” Be aware that the evil one can also speak through dreams. When in doubt about the origin of the dream it is best to ignore it completely. You may be at peace with this. Children if all this confuses you, go back to the basics, to Scripture, prayer and the sacraments. Be little and accept all that happens with grace and gratitude. I am near to you at all times, awake or asleep. My children, I love you. Have faith!”

Beloved Father of my heart, be near to me at all times. I lay my head on your heart, whether I am awake or asleep. In your mercy, grant me clarity in all things. Keep me faithful, humble, and small. I receive all your gifts and graces with deepest gratitude. Abba, Daddy, I love you! Amen.

You are Eucharistic agents….

Colossians 2:6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

“Beloved, you have taken me into your body having received me in the Eucharist. Can you see the power of what has transpired in you? I tell you, you cannot! All of heaven is contained in the disguise of bread. Do you believe this?”

Lord I believe!

Then let this truth transform you. Let love conquer you. Let peace rule over you. Let wisdom guide you. All these things are available to you when I come to you in the disguise of bread. Then act with love, live in peace, immerse yourself in holy wisdom. You who are gifted with the divine treasury bear the greater responsibility. You are my instruments in the world. In you, my love, peace, and wisdom are meant to reign so that they may act in you wherever you go. You are Eucharistic agents. Do not take this lightly, or you will be called to account for squandering so infinitely great a treasure. You have been given this treasure for a purpose. Be mindful of this always. I am with you. I am in you. We are one.”

O my Jesus, forgive me for the times I have taken for granted this unimaginable gift! Help me to be your Eucharistic agent in the world, acting with love, living in peace, immersing myself in holy wisdom for the good of all those you send me. Jesus I praise you for giving yourself to me in the Eucharist—your Body in my body, your Blood in my veins, your Love in my heart. I am yours, you are mine, we are one! Save souls! Amen.

Addendum:

As confirmation, this came from an Archbishop Sheen fb page that I follow:

“What is true in the order of nature is true in the order of supernature or grace. Only those who use the graces they are given are given more.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Thoughts for Daily Living)

Thank you Jesus!

I have started praying for specific needs in this way:

Jesus in the Divine Will and as your Eucharistic agent, I send your love, peace, and holy wisdom to (name) who is struggling at this time. I cannot help them but you can. Jesus I trust in you. Take care of everything. Amen.

A heartfelt prayer of gratitude…

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ. If we are being afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation; if we are being consoled, it is for your consolation, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we are also suffering. Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our consolation.

Beloved friends, be abundantly blessed! If you do not subscribe to my mailout, you may have missed the recent prayer request I sent via that channel. It was a personal prayer request and I decided it was better not to post it to this public blog—somehow it seem more prudent to just send a mailout to 800 of my closest friends! 🙂

I must say, my husband and I were overwhelmed at the love and generosity of spirit that flowed out of the hearts of the many who responded by email. I realize that many more did not respond by email, but still sent anonymous prayers to heaven on our behalf. We are immensely grateful to all of you! We are certainly feeling the effects of your prayers and are doing our best to honour the gracious gifts you have given us.

Out of those who responded by email, many told me of their own pain and suffering, and yet in spite of that, sacrificed precious prayer time for our intentions. It became abundantly clear to me that we are all walking wounded, “mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.” But we are not alone!

It occurred to me what a privilege it was, in my hour of need, to be able to access this great cloud of witnesses, this faithful family that has grown with me over the years. I fervently desired that all of you would have access to the same abundant blessings which you showered on us. But how? Oh, the Lord makes it so simple, as the Scripture passage above suggests. The Divine Will of course! For nothing is impossible to God! So my dear friends, I offer the following prayer for each of you, whether or not you were able to pray for us. All are in need of prayer and since all of you are in my territory of souls, you are all included.

Blessed Trinity of Love, I praise and thank you for all you have accomplished in bringing this community of believers together. I praise and thank you for the countless ways you have edified us, through Scripture, through your words of love and encouragement, through the sharing that takes place on this blog, and through the prayers we offer for each other. I praise and thank you for the growth in faith that has taken place within each of us and ask that you take us to new heights of holiness, faith and fidelity. I offer you every pure act of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph wrapped in the gratitude of the Gloriana in thanksgiving for all you have done in and through this unworthy sinner.

Now, most glorious God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in the Divine Will I ask that you will gather up all the prayers that have been offered on our behalf, that you will multiply them in the Divine Will and apply all these prayers to each one of these little ones you have given me. I ask that you will use this treasury of prayers in countless ways to assist each one in their most pressing need, in perpetuity. Let this treasure be available to them each time they invoke the collective prayers of all those on “Peli’s blog”, as they call it. Loving Father, I ask you to answer the deepest prayers of their hearts and do not let one of their loved ones be lost. Trusting in your goodness, O Lord, I immerse this prayer in the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In your mercy, heap grace upon grace on all who read it with a prayerful heart. I ask all this in the most holy name of Jesus—Jesus I trust in you. Amen.

If a sliver of corruption remains, it will soon infect all that was rebuilt…

Jeremiah 19:11 Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, so that it can never be mended.

“My child, is it mercy to rebuild what has been completely corrupted? No, what has been corrupted must be completely destroyed. If a sliver of corruption remains, it will soon infect all that was rebuilt. No, what has gone before must be completely destroyed. Weep my children, but do not despair. Behold, I make all things new. It is now time to separate the weeds from the wheat. It is now time for the Architect to begin anew. This is a great day, my children, a great and terrible day. But you, my children must remain firmly rooted in hope. Wear peace like a garment. Be a sign to all that God is love and he lives in you. I am calling my faithful ones to heroic virtue. Ponder this my children. The grace will be there for you, but you must desire it and use it. Too many graces are ignored—they gather dust on a shelf. I am giving you grace upon grace, children. Let your acceptance and your gratitude go hand in hand. My beloved little ones, I am near. Shalom.”

O my Jesus, I thank you and I praise you for your tender care. I accept all the graces you offer and ask that all souls will also accept them. O Lord, without your graces we are sunk! But in your grace we can do all things. Jesus we trust in you. Help us to live always in your holy will. Amen.

You are poor, but you play at being rich and powerful…

Psalm 2:10-12 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, with trembling kiss his feet, or he will be angry, and you will perish in the way; for his wrath is quickly kindled. Happy are all who take refuge in him.

“My little children, how little you are! How lacking in strength and the cunning you need to live even one day on the earth! Do you not know that apart from grace you would cease to exist? Why do you persist in your pride, as if you had the least modicum of control over your station, your situation, your very breath? You are poor, but you play at being rich and powerful. Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart. Be always grateful. Acknowledge and praise the gratuitous generosity of your loving Abba. The more you do this, the more prepared you will be for the coming trial. Depend on me, my children. I am your refuge.”

Beloved Savior, I repent of all pride, of clinging to my own will, and of failing to thank and praise you for your gratuitous generosity. You alone are our refuge, our safety, or very existence. I thank and praise you for each breath you give me, for every beat of my heart, for sustaining me, and for every blessing you have bestowed every moment of my life. Jesus I love you! Jesus I trust in you! You are my refuge. You are my all. Amen.

You are Simon of Cyrene and I am asking you to carry my cross…

Judith 3:13 The Lord heard their prayers and had regard for their distress; for the people fasted for many days throughout Judea and in Jerusalem before the sanctuary of the Lord almighty.

“Beloved children, weep and wail! Offer me all things, great and small, so that the calamities may yet be mitigated. I have been exhorting you to prayer and sacrifice for many years now. My words fall on deaf ears far too often. You who hear me and heed my warnings must bear the greater share of the burden. You are Simon of Cyrene and I am asking you to carry my cross. Do not take it up reluctantly, but with great joy give thanks to God for the great honor he bestows on you and the great trust he places in you in allowing you to carry so precious a treasure as the cross of Christ. Simon could not have known, but you know. Therefore, when I ask you to carry a burden, embrace it with holy joy. Offer it to the Father in the Divine Will in the name of everyone to make up for what is lacking in those who refuse their mission. Make your fiat one with mine and our Mother’s. Children, beloved ones, I am depending on you. You have no idea what your fiat can purchase. Trust in me, my children. The world is in need of your fiat!”

O my Jesus, forgive me for all the times I have refused to help you carry your cross. How weak I am! But your mercy far surpasses my weakness and so I ask you in the Divine Will to take all my errors and sins and redo them in the Divine Will as if I had done them well the first time. I ask this so your holy will may be accomplished in the world and that your kingdom may come. I give you my fiat linked to yours and to our Mother’s. Jesus I trust in you.

(Note: On Saturday at Mass I was looking at the crucifix and praying for the coming of the Kingdom of the Divine Will. I felt the Lord tell me that the road to the kingdom is the way of the cross. So we need to view the hardships we are asked to endure through the lens of the cross, from the vantage point of the Kingdom. Jesus we trust in you, even if your designs are too mysterious for us. We trust in you. Amen.
