Dream…

Dream: Last night I had a dream about a young woman who was walking at the top of a big hydro dam and somehow slipped and was falling down the wet concrete to the thundering waters below. A young strong man also fell but manage to save himself. After a second, he made the decision to plunge down after her in order to try to save her. Miraculously he reached her and they both ended up being caught on a branch or ledge. The strong young man pulled the young woman up behind him struggling to get them both to safety. Instead of being helpful and grateful, the young woman was berating him the whole time saying things like, “I would have been fine. I didn’t need you to rescue me. Why didn’t you mind your own business?” Once the young man saw that they had made it to a place of relative safety, and seeing that his presence was a thorn in her side, he parted ways with her, making sure she was in a place where she could make it the rest of the way on her own. He placed her in a little stream that was emptying into the dam and told her to go upstream with her mother who was there and make her own way to safety. Then he left. Even though the stream was not deep or fast, they had trouble going upstream. They came to a bend in the stream and another young man appeared. It was the young woman’s “new boyfriend”. Even though she not in serious jeopardy, he was not able to help her out of the stream and offered to go for help. The young woman screamed, “NO! Stay! You can never leave me!” She reached for his hand. He was very happy to be so needed. Neither one seemed aware that this situation was not getting them anywhere. Neither one really even acknowledged the mother who was there the whole time.

I have been pondering this dream today. I feel the young woman represents so many people who place their souls in grave danger and when Our Lord offers his miraculous help through the sacraments, the church, the singular graces of the age such as Divine Mercy, Divine Will, and Flame of Love, they are roundly rejected. “I don’t need your help! I can save myself!” It is the height of pride and ingratitude. So, the good and gentle God who has risked all to save the poor soul, leaves sadly, out of respect for that one’s free will, appointing his Mother to be her faithful companion. No matter how much the soul struggles, however, she will not go to her Mother for help. Ah, but this “new boyfriend”, this shiny idol in her life, this new age religion, these occult practices, these thoughts, ideas, and notions, these she clings to with all her might, even though these idols have no power to save.

The ingratitude of the young woman was very stark in the dream. As divine providence would have it, Anthony Mullen’s blog post on March 26 was on the topic of gratitude, and its necessity in the devout life. Anthony’s blog is called The Divine Antidote, https://divineantidote.wordpress.com and I would encourage you to subscribe to if you haven’t already. I have found his messages to be a tremendous aid in the spiritual life. I asked Anthony if I could re-post that message here and he has given permission.

May God grant us all the grace of a grateful, humble heart, open to his loving care and his saving help. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, we love you. Save souls!

Praise and Thanksgiving Increase the Gifts and Discernment of Inspirations of the Holy Spirit

Posted on March 26, 2017      by Anthony Mullen

(I felt a strong inspiration to remind us as we hit the halfway point of Lent that what follows below is the main reason why we don’t make the spiritual progress we so desire. Take note especially of what St. Therese has to say on thanksgiving).

We know from our Faith that God will grant us the Grace to respond to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit for our sanctification, but only if we truly love God and correspond with the effort of our free will to His Grace. St. Frances de Sales, Doctor of the Church, states: “…if we do not resist God’s Grace, He gives each of us the inspirations we need in order to live, act and maintain ourselves in the spiritual life.” It is the Gifts of the Holy Spirit placed in our soul at Baptism and strengthened at our Confirmation and further strengthened with each worthy Holy Communion, which allow us to hear and respond consistently to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.  St. Thomas Aquinas, the great Doctor of the Church, states that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit “prepare the soul to follow promptly the impulse of Divine inspiration.”  So, since the Gifts and Virtues of the Holy Spirit are essential to our growth in holiness, it is a matter of the greatest importance that we learn and practice all we can about the Gifts and how they open our faculties to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. But how do we activate and grow the Gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Our guide in this matter, Fr. Jacques Philippe, from “In the School of the Holy Spirit”, explains that the main reason that we do not receive the necessary Grace is: WE FAIL TO THANK GOD FOR THE GRACES HE HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO US (emphasis added). He quotes St. Therese of Lisieux, another Doctor of the Church: “What most draws down graces from our dear Lord is gratitude, for if we thank Him for a gift, He hastens to give us ten more, and if we thank Him again with the same sincerity, what an incalculable multiplication of graces!  I have experienced this; try it and see.”

Fr. Jacques asks us to see and understand that our subtle ingratitude, our failure to recognize our nothingness and that everything…every single thing we have is Grace…pure Gift…is indeed what stifles Grace, especially since we do not consistently thank God for all the blessings and benefits of each moment of each day and simply take them for granted (our Faith, Hope, Love, talents, skills, parents, country, occupation, house, food). Why is it that we are one of every three people in the world who believes in Christ?  Why are we not in the two of every three people who do not know or believe in Christ?  Why is it that we are a Catholic and not a Protestant?  How is it that we know and believe in the Most Blessed Sacrament? How is it that we are in the 1% of all people who actually can and do take advantage of this Gift of all Gifts on a daily basis?  How is it that we were chosen to know and receive the Extraordinary Flame of Love Grace?  All is Pure Gift of an All-Loving, Infinite God!  All we have is a gratuitous Gift!  Yet, we take these incredible Gifts of God for granted…or certainly we do not thank God often and profusely for these incredible Gifts of His Love.

So, what must we do? We must change by begging for more Grace to be truly thankful each day and seek to practice praise and thanksgiving each day throughout the day, especially with formal prayers of praise and thanksgiving added to our daily prayer time; and with short bursts of praise and thanksgiving throughout the day….”Lord, I praise and thank you for everything You have given me!”  Next, we must give more time and effort devoted to praising and thanking God from our free time.  Worthily attending daily Mass with Holy Communion is the greatest way to thank and praise God!  If we are already doing that…then making a Holy Hour each week would be the next gift of praise and thanksgiving!  We must continue to give God more of our free time, which is now wasted on foolish things like TV, Internet and too much talking and entertainment.  Instead, we must use this wasted time to especially praise Him and thank Him for the Graces we have received.

Once we become consistent at this praise and thanksgiving, we will begin to see and feel new Graces bestowed and we will begin to be more patient and docile in listening for the inspirations of the Holy Spirit at each moment of the day. We will then find we are growing closer to God and beginning to act more like His Mother and He would act in each situation of the day.  We will see our bad habits and laziness begin to change!  Come Holy Spirit, come into my daily life in a new and more powerful way with Your Gifts, and let me hear and act on all Your inspirations, so I may be Holy as You are Holy for Your Glory and the salvation of souls!  I praise and thank You for all the Graces I have ever received and will ever receive! Please, I beg You to do this through the power of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!  By trusting in our Mother and taking and living the Flame of Love Grace, this process of gratitude for Grace is accelerated and made much more secure!  She is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Mediatrix of all Grace and Mother of perfect thanksgiving!  Fiat!

Two dreams…

I had this dream recently, just before waking:

Christians were being rounded up. Someone came and told me to get in line. We were told to walk in single file with our hand on the shoulder of the one ahead of us. I didn’t know any of the others in line, but somehow I knew that the young woman ahead of the young man in front of me was not Catholic. She seemed very excited and was telling the young man about a big change that was coming. He said, “You mean I’m going to change?” She replied, “Everyone’s going to change.” I thought, that sounds like the illumination. She seemed to think it would happen very soon. We came to the place where they wanted us and broke ranks. She said that anyone who wanted to teach others about this, to come with her. I was thrilled at the prospect and followed her with great anticipation that this long-awaited event might be imminent.

I share this dream with the caveat that dreams are subject to interpretation, and timelines are not to be taken literally. Is the rounding up of Christians a sign? Possibly, but let us not become too caught up in signs, except the sign of Isaiah 7:14. I have learned to interpret dreams as calls to prayer, so I want to encourage us all to step up our prayers for souls, especially those who will die suddenly, but also for those who will experience the painful experience of the illumination of their soul, either in a worldwide event, or at the moment of their death, as in that avalanche in Italy. The enemy never sleeps and wants to discourage all souls from believing in the infinite mercy of God.

Most effective are the Flame of Love prayers, which “blind satan”. Of course, praying in the Divine Will not only gives infinite power to our prayers, but it also keeps us from praying in our own will. Let us beg the Holy Spirit to take our prayer to a much higher level than we could ever manage on our own.

A couple of days later, again just before waking, I had another dream, very brief. Some demons were in prison and were anticipating their imminent release. I feel this is a call not to become complacent with our prayers, but to increase our prayers and sacrifices wherever possible, even offering our every moment in the Divine Will, so that every moment becomes a prayer. When I awoke I prayed the Flame of Love prayers in the Divine Will and felt the strength of those prayers. I often pray this prayer repeatedly during the day or if I’m awake in the night: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, spread the effect of grace of Thy Flame of Love over all of humanity, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.” (Sometimes if it seems appropriate I add a name: “…over ___ and over all of humanity…”)

If you are not praying the Flame of Love prayers, you are missing a singular grace. Please read my blog post from 2014 here: https://pelianitoblog.wordpress.com/flame-of-love/, or go to Anthony Mullen’s site: http://www.flameoflove.us/ .

Friday’s Mass reading offered great hope: Hebrews 8:10-13 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach one another or say to each other, “Know the Lord”, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful towards their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.’

Oh Jesus! May your kingdom come and come quickly! May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! Amen.

Jesus I trust in you…

Blessings to all. What days we are in! I am currently reading a book on Joan of Arc by Mark Twain (re-released by Lighthouse Catholic Media and available for $6.00). Mark Twain considered it his best book, and it is of course masterfully written, based on 12 years of research on the many official documents on her life and martyrdom. In her story we find a stellar model of abject trust, the graces that flow from that trust, and the desire of God to work through humble, willing souls–especially in the most desperate of times.

Today I am re-posting a message on trust from 2010. It seems more relevant today than ever. Someone brought that post my attention today, and it tied in so well with the book on St. Joan that I felt sure God wanted me to re-post this message, and bring the book to your attention.

The original post:

My dear friends,

Recently I felt Our Lady giving me a message that at first seemed personal to me, but on reflection, I see that this Word is meant for all: “You, my child, have been given a …

The battle for souls…

Happy feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, dear friends!

I have two dreams to relate to you. One I posted in April, 2007. The other is a dream I had in the week before Christmas this year. I feel that both are calls to pray for those who may die suddenly and unprepared. This seems a dire message given that we are celebrating a New Year. But please remember that God would not send me these dreams and this message if there was no hope attached. Do not let this message fill you with dread, but with the firm belief that God will hear your prayers for souls and use your sacrifices to save many who may be lost without them. Death is hard for those left behind, but the real tragedy occurs when souls are lost. Offering prayers for souls is one way that we can be a sure sign of hope for others.

First Dream – April 2007

I was in a car by the seashore. Suddenly the sea started to rise very quickly. Many people were unprepared. I saw that many of the unprepared were famous people. They were trapped by the rising water and drowned. Then a great tsunami rose and rushed towards us. We could not escape it but I felt that we had a better chance of surviving if we stayed in our car, thinking that the car could take the pounding better than we could and we might escape with our lives.

I felt afterwards that this dream was a call to pray for those whose hearts are spiritually unprepared and who are in grave spiritual danger. Our “vehicle of safety” is the Church. It will be battered by upcoming events, but we are far safer within it than we would be outside of it.

Second Dream – December 2016

I was looking out over the harbor and saw a large cruise ship being towed into port by a tug. I thought, “That’s unusual. We don’t usually get cruise ships here.” After it docked I went to see it. There was absolutely no sign of life on it or around it. After waking I felt the ship represented death.

I believe these dreams may be related and that the events of the first (the death of many famous people) may be a sign for the timing of the second. We have just come off a year where an unprecedented number of famous people have died, probably many of them unprepared. In Canada we are also in mourning for all those who have taken their own lives through physician-assisted suicide. Ever since I had the first dream, I have been praying for those who will die unprepared. I believe the second dream is in turn an encouragement to pray even harder for those poor souls. I encourage all of us to do so. Here is the prayer I pray daily at the end of my Divine Mercy chaplet:

“Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, we beseech you by the agony of your most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of your Immaculate Mother, to wash clean in your blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony, but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day. Heart of Jesus, who suffered death’s agony, have mercy on these poor souls. Amen.”

We are a people of hope and our God of hope has given us powerful weapons against the culture of death, one of the greatest of which is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We know we can trust Jesus and believe in the promise he made to St. Faustina:

“At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same.” (Diary, 811)

“My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. … Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior.” (Diary, 1541).

God’s mercy is unimaginable! Even more so in that he uses weak sinners as his instruments of mercy on earth. Just as St. Faustina was often taken in spirit to the side of dying souls so she could pray the chaplet in their presence, in the Divine Will we can ask for the same grace, for nothing is impossible for God. “Jesus, in the Divine Will, take me into the presence of those in most dire need of your mercy as I pray this chaplet…”

God is calling us to participate in his ministry of salvation. May our Blessed Mother guide us and help us in the battle for the souls of her beloved children.

O my Jesus, I love you, I trust you, I surrender myself to you. Please take care of everything and everyone in my spiritual territory. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you. Save souls!

Those who are wise do not dismiss all dreams, but search the meaning of those that appear to be significant…

Matthew 2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, (the wise men) left for their own country by another road.

“My children, is it so hard to believe that I would speak to my servants through dreams? It was not hard for the wise men to believe, nor St. Joseph. At certain times, I choose to speak to souls through dreams. Not every dream contains a message, but those that do require discernment. Those who are wise do not dismiss all dreams, but search the meaning of those that appear to be significant. I never send a dream-message without a reason, so it behooves the dreamer to pray and ponder. If you cannot decipher its meaning offer me this prayer, “Lord if this dream is from you, then please clarify its meaning; if not, please let it fade from my memory.” Be aware that the evil one can also speak through dreams. When in doubt about the origin of the dream it is best to ignore it completely. You may be at peace with this. Children if all this confuses you, go back to the basics, to Scripture, prayer and the sacraments. Be little and accept all that happens with grace and gratitude. I am near to you at all times, awake or asleep. My children, I love you. Have faith!”

Beloved Father of my heart, be near to me at all times. I lay my head on your heart, whether I am awake or asleep. In your mercy, grant me clarity in all things. Keep me faithful, humble, and small. I receive all your gifts and graces with deepest gratitude. Abba, Daddy, I love you! Amen.

The dawn from on high shall break upon you…

Luke 1:78-79 By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Dear friends, I have been struggling with how to convey to you a vision I had a couple of mornings ago just before waking. I am afraid I will have to subject you to one of my attempts at drawing the vision. The vision was brief but very clear. However, my artistic gifts are sadly lacking. Still I will try, as the message is one of great hope tied to the Scripture passage above.

I seemed to be standing on the top of a very high promontory in winter and looking into a valley. The promontory was something like the outcropping in this photo:

promontory in winter
Promontory in winter

It was dawn and all the snow had a pink tint to it, very beautiful. Something had just happened where I was standing and a cloud halo like in the drawing below was generated and moved out over the valley.

Dawn from on high

Upon reflection I felt that it was the “dawn from on high” breaking upon us “to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” I felt very hopeful. I also felt this was the beginning moments of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Alleluia! He is near!

A warning to be “sober and alert”…

1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is at hand. Therefore, be serious and sober for prayers.

1 Peter 5:8 Discipline yourselves; keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith.

I had a dream that I was walking down a corridor in a hotel. A man I did not know was following behind. I felt uncomfortable because I was inappropriately dressed to be out in public and tried to cover myself, but it was a bit obvious. We came to a doorway in the hallway and he passed me, giving me a mocking sneer, but he did me no harm. I got to my room and saw that I had left the door open. To my horror, there was the man rifling through my valuables. I attacked him and managed to gouge his hand with my keys. However, I could not stop him so I went for help. When I came back he had someone with him helping to go through my valuables.

I don’t remember any more of the dream but I felt this dream was a warning to be “sober and alert”. My inappropriate dress was perhaps a warning to confess often. My door left open was a warning to take better care of my valuables, namely those I love, and to not be neglectful in my prayer life. My defenses were inadequate and because of that I allowed even more harm to come to my loved ones. Instead of engaging directly with the enemy, I should have taken more care to make sure the door was closed and locked in the first place, a warning to make sure to post a spiritual sentry in front of the doors of all my loved ones. This dream is a warning to “watch and pray”. The prowler never sleeps.

Lord Jesus, I entrust myself, my loved ones, and all in my spiritual territory to the Flame of Love and invoke all guardian angels to act as sentries for those in their charge, to keep us all safe and alert in these perilous times. Jesus I trust in you! Save souls!

A dream…

Dear friends last night I dreamed of a demon who was teaching a theology class. He was teaching subtle falsehoods, such as God the Father is the main God, and Jesus is another, lesser God. I was thinking, “That’s not right. Jesus and the Father and the Holy Spirit are three Persons in one God, co-equal.” Someone in the class asked about the Holy Spirit. The demon got very annoyed at that question and didn’t really answer it. The next thing I could see was that there was a chalice there, like the ones used at the consecration. He spilled the chalice and that was the end of my dream, but I did note one other peculiar thing. Other than looking like a fairly typical teacher in a theology class, the eyes of the demon were completely blind, as if there were hard scales on them.

I have pondered and prayed over this dream. Several things come to mind. Most obvious is the way that subtle falsehoods have permeated not just the culture, but in some cases the seminaries. Families, even Catholic families, often have a very poor understanding of even basic theology. What they are passing on to their children is even more paltry and inaccurate. I’m sure we have all experienced this in real life.

The second important facet of the dream, and I believe a real message for all of us, is the critical importance of the Holy Spirit. It is urgent, dear friends, that we all deepen our relationship to the Holy Spirit. In the previous message, Our Lord said twice, “Become love.” What better way than by praying for a deeper infilling of the Holy Spirit, the very Breath of Love that flows between the Father and the Son. If we long for the coming Era of Peace, the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, the Kingdom of the Divine Will, let us conceive it in our souls NOW, gestate it, nurture it, and carry it to term, following the example of our most Blessed Mother. We do this by fervently desiring to open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, by emptying ourselves in order to be filled by Him, praying, “Holy Spirit, use me as you wish to accomplish your designs upon the world!”

The chalice in the dream I feel represented the blood of the martyrs that the evil one is callously spilling each day. I felt in the dream that the Holy Spirit, the mention of Whom was greatly annoying to the demon, is a critical remedy to the ills of our day. If we deepen our relationship with the Holy Spirit, if we use His abundant gifts for the good of all, there will be no defense the enemy can mount against us, and no offense that can give him victory. The Holy Spirit in so many ways, is begging us to invite Him into our hearts and souls, so that he may act in us for the good of all. We must not delay in our response! Whatever is distracting us from being docile to the Spirit must be jettisoned. Of course our daily duty is part of the holy calling of each of us. Our family life and commitments are holy and worthy sacramentals, signs of our membership in the greater family of God. But we all have extra things that are mere distractions. It is time to imitate Mary in professing our fiat with all our heart, to give God the choicest portions of our lives, not just the leftovers.

The final point I gleaned from the dream, and one that gave me great hope, was that the demon was completely blind. This, I believe, was a confirmation of the Flame of Love devotion, in which Our Lord told Elizabeth Kindelmann that the effect of the prayers was to “blind satan”. I believe that the Lord wished us to know that the Flame of Love prayer warriors have already weakened the enemy. Then let us, with renewed fervour, “pray ardently” as our Lord also said in the previous message. Let us be encouraged in our calling and become true signs of hope for others and instruments of the Divine Will.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolations, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Dream: I had a feeling that the full force of the storm was imminent…

Dream: Last night I dreamed there was a massive hurricane coming. I was in my basement covering windows and doors when I saw someone fighting the wind to get to my door. I had to use all my might to get the door open a crack, that’s how strong the wind was. I had a feeling that the full force of the storm was imminent. That’s when I woke up.

I feel this dream is a warning that things are going to happen quickly now with great strength and fury. Jesus we trust in you! Guide us all into the next right step and help us to be signs of hope to others. Amen

You are living in the days of the Book of Joel…

Joel 2:13-14 Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger,  and abounding in steadfast love, and relents from punishing. Who knows whether he will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, a grain-offering and a drink-offering for the Lord, your God?

“My children, never doubt my mercy! Trust always in my unimaginably generous pardon to the one who is contrite. Sin has indeed purchased great suffering for the world. The foul stench of sin must be purged. You are living in the days of the Book of Joel*. Great suffering will lead to greater joy. You cannot imagine now what will grow from the ashes of purgation. Accept what comes as what must come. But do not dwell on the sorrow of suffering. Dwell instead on the mercy of God, on the joy that is to come. Remain peaceful. Be industrious. Be creative and I will create with you. My children, look for me in the time of suffering. Look for me and you will find me. Draw near, little ones. Cling to me and do not let go. I carry you in my merciful heart. Then let yourself be carried! Be my child, for I am your Father.”

O beloved Father of my heart, what joy to be carried by you! Help us to dwell on you and not on our own weakness and misery. Help us to look for you in all situations. Help us to be industrious and creative. Father, we are your little ones. We place all our trust in you through Jesus and Mary. Amen.

(*In a dream last night the Book of Joel was highlighted repeatedly. The details of the dream are lost, but the word Joel was emphasised many times.)
