On pilgrimage…

Dear friends, I will be going on a pilgrimage next week to St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. Last January I put up this piece on St. Brother André Bessette, founder of the Oratory. His is a wonderful story of humility and holiness. I will be lighting a candle for the prayer intentions of all the “Peli family”. St. Brother André and St. Joseph, pray for us.

  1. Delighted for you….. And so thankful for all of us here to receive the candle and prayers.
I smiled…. Last year my son took a rowdy bunch of teens from New York to Canada for a few days. Namely Montreal…. But they did not go to where you are going, they would not even have known about it. They loved the city…. So different.

      1. My son was very fortunate to be able to apply and be selected to work at a beautiful summer camp in the Adirondacks. In his early 20s he was a bit older than many and so was given the opportunity to get a bus license …… Drove teens to Montreal. Said it was such a wonderful time. Such a great way for a young person to see another part of the world. A working holiday really.

    1. There is no shortage of prayer needs. Let us all pray for one another, and if you want to join me in praying a novena to St. Brother André, here is one:

Prayer to obtain a special favour through the intercession of Saint Brother André

Saint Brother André, we celebrate your presence among us.
Your loving friendship with Jesus, Mary and Joseph
makes you another son in the eyes of the Father.

Compassion carries your words straight to God’s heart,
      and your prayers are answered
      with comfort and healing

Through you, from our lips to God’s ear,
      our supplications are heard…

We ask to be made a part of
      God’s work
in a spirit of prayer, compassion and humility.

Saint Brother André, pray for us.

      Amen

  3. I am so happy for you. It’s on my list and not too far from me but haven’t got there yet. Will join with you in the novena to Brother Andre. Safe and blessed journey.

  4. Dear Janet,

I had the pleasure of knowing the son of a young girl who had such severe spinal problems and had been told that she’d never have a child. She was cured by Fr. Andre Bessette. He is now a priest: Fr. Barry Lonerghan.

    God bless,

    Nancy

  5. Brother Andre must be interceding for us already; today’s Year of Mercy email was devoted to him… Can’t be a coincidence with his feast day in January 🙂

Thanks for lighting the candle, Peli, we will pray for you, too! St. Brother Andre, pray for us!

Brother André, I come to you in prayer for healing.
You were no stranger to illness. Plagued by stomach problems,
you knew suffering on a daily basis, but you never lost faith in God.
Thousands of people have sought your healing prayers as I do today.
Pray that I might be restored to health in body, soul, and mind.
With St. Joseph as my loving Protector, strengthen my faith and give me peace
That I might accept God’s will for me no matter the outcome. Amen.
