You must know that there is only one joy that is worth pursuing and that is the joy of living in the will of God…

Luke 2:34-35 Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

BVM: “My little children, do you think it was easy for me to hear these words? Do you think that I was not aware from the start that to be the Mother of the Redeemer would bring unimaginable joy, but also unimaginable pain? All this I agreed to in my “Fiat”, and would have endured many times more suffering if my Beloved had desired it. You must know that there is only one joy that is worth pursuing and that is the joy of living in the will of God. It was in the will of God that all my joy had its origin, so that no amount of suffering I endured could take away what God bestowed on me when I gave myself to him completely. Children, do not run away form the will of God–run TO it. Immerse yourself in it. Put to death all that keeps you from it. I want you to know that when you give yourself completely to God, you will fear nothing on earth and will bear everything with patience and dignity. Children, ponder these things. I am your Mother and I love you.”

Blessed Mother, I praise and thank God for the day that you were born! What a singular gift you were to broken humanity! How can we honor you, except by doing that which you ask. Then, in your grace, give us each what we need to surrender well and completely to the will of the Father, that we might know joy, peace, patience and courage in all circumstances. Please, Mother, give us your blessing. Amen.
